So, keeping my bike inside isn't really feasible (for space purposes and I live in an upstairs/downstairs with limited room on the landing) and I don't have a bike rack. But there are a few trees that are in the front but unobtrusive and I was thinking about trying to rig something up to lock my bike to. Question is how/what...

Any suggestions? Or other ideas for creating something secure enough to lock to?

Obviously whatever I lock too will be the weak link, but I don't think it will be facing any really determined thieves... This isn't a high theft area, but I'm certainly not going to leave my ride unlocked!

Assuming yer area is completely secured, OK. The prob with leaving it outside is moisture. If yer OK with that, look for water pipes, railings etc.

Can u put a big hook up the ceilling and hang it a-la-Seinfeld?

Nothing like that to hook to. I might resort to hanging it inside. Or figuring out some lock mechanism and throwing a tarp over it alongside the BBQ grill and my off-season tires...

If you are up for a do it yourself task, you can always follow the instructions for digging a post hole and sink into concrete a metal fencepost or use something like this and a Saris bike rack for something theft resistant and permanent. Saris has anchors that can go into the ground without needing cement as well, such as this one.
