Old bike with pics this time

A freind found this at a yard sale, it might be nothing..im sure its not ive never come across anything but it was free. Anybody know what it could be? I cleaned it a bit today and lubed up the chain..it rides a bit rough but it does ride. It has SR cranks and all the other componets are shimano with some of the parts saying shimano ealge....the brake levers say CHERRY. Thanks for the help.

I can get the serial if anyone needs it...it starts with a F but ill have to get out the magnifing glass for the rest..lol. The serial is on the bottom bracket. If its not worth restoring ill turn it into a fix/ss...thats what i want to do anyway. If the components are worth anything let me know and ill pass them on possibly. Thanks for the help

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Looks like it might be an old General. They used to be sold at Woolworths. Stamped drop outs, too. Low end 70's boom bike.

My guess is a early-model Schwinn Paramount (P-15).

Does it have anything etched or stamped right above the cranks on the post or right above the fork?
