Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

how high do you prefer your pant legs rolled up?

me just enough to clear the gears. with that i don't suffer from the aerodynamic disadvantage of my unshaved legs. that's of course, is when i'm not wearing shorts. i then lose a good 5mph from the unshaved legs. i also get to show off my uber cool slipons and old school stainless toe clips with classy leather straps more...

...yes this was created as sarcasm of the cuff thread in the road biking forum and i don't use toe clips(i ride ss not fixed) and don't wear slip ons because i only have some cheap ones and they tend to smell when you sweat in them. but i was curious why guys roll their pant legs up on both legs.

I roll up my pants in both legs in order to minimize sweating and maximize comfort. I don't really like shorts, unless they're cycling shorts and/or I'm mountain biking, because sticky, muddy, sweaty denim is no fun.

Me too! Do you also count the number of deodorant swipes under each arm pit, or am I all alone on that one?

how many squares do you use to wipe?
do you drink coffee or tea in the morning?
do you make sure your shoelaces match your toe strap color?
how loud does your stomach rumble when you are hungry?

Just enough to clear the gears and depending on the fabric, enough to keep them rolled up. Some of my dress pants for work are synthetic I think and need to be rolled high.

i normally do it to clear the gears but also it's just not as hot. i normally like to wear jeans when i ride so when and if i decide to hit the pavement, i won't get as messed up. and believe it or not the other week when i was riding i got lazy and only rolled up the right side... and the other side got caught in between the left crank and the bb spindle... that was shocking
