One more work day and I'm off on vacation

Saturday morning I'm heading up to the Wisconsin North Woods. We're riding from Merrill to Eagle River, riding around for 3 days and then riding back. Weather forcast is sunny with highs in the 70's.

I fel like a little kid getting ready for summer camp. I've loaded my bike, tools and stuff into the car and I've already gotten most of my clothes ready. As soon as I can throw my tooth brush into my bag I'll be set to go.

We're leaving on vacation Saturday too.
Heading south to the Smokey Mts. and Nashville. I'm taking my mountain bike.
My problem is I haven't even thought about packing yet!

Smokies are fun. But the park only allows road riding. There's still Tsali. If you can ride on roads, 129 through the mountains is fun in the mornings, before the motorcycles start up. Just 40 miles from me.

Please don't get "fit" in the process.

I've been to Eagle River many, many moons ago. We rented a cabin at Sunset Lake - my son, Tim, was in heaven because he could fish all day from the dock at the cabin.

Nice country. Have fun.

I've only been up there one time. Pretty area. It will be several degrees cooler there than down here in southern Wisconsin.

Those kind of trips are a lot of fun.

I'm thinking of heading over to Prairie Du Chien, along the Mississippi River, and across it to Lafayette, IA tomorrow. I love the bluffs along the river and there are some great effigy mounds in the area too.

Am considering heading up to Stevens Point next weekend for the big recumbent festival & meet. That's only 50 miles from Merrill.

Current predictions for that area are the low 80s, around 80-82 over the next few days.

Next week it is going to be in the mid-70s up there.

Must be that time of year. I'm heading out tomorrow for the Colorado river, 9 days. Taking the bike to get at least 20 miles a day at the crack of dawn, should be well into the 100's so I need to get out early.

Have a good time Retro.

Sounds like fun -- never been there, so please post plenty of pics; we may want to make that a destination for future vacations.

I'm impressed that you're already packed.

Have a great time!

No danger there:

This is WISCONSIN that we're going to. They have ice cream with a butter fat content that justifes a real high cardialogist disapproval rateing. Historically I've gained a little weight on these bicycling trips.
