Ok, it's in Oregon. But it's supposed to be a great ride - anyone else here doing it? I'll be there with a half-dozen friends. 8/16, https://www.craterlakecentury.com/

edit - I just got an e-mail from the organizer saying there are less than 50 spots left.

I was thinking about doing this or the Napa ride, but then "responsible father" kicked-in... My daughter starts 1st grade at her new public
school on Monday the 18th...
I don't know why I'm saying
since it's $800 more to spend on bike stuff every month... :

Bikes: aggressive agreement is what I ride.
I wouldn't stress over public school for your daughter. Where I grew up half my friends were in private and the other half public. 10 years on now, I've found that the success of those friends had very little to do with which school they attended.
The fact that you are concerned about it will have much more influence than the type of school.

Cool - we'll be camping at the campsite listed on the website, and doing dinner at the Crater Lake Lodge after the ride. Maybe this time I'll actually get a chance to meet you in person (instead of hearing from a half dozen friends that "Someone named JoBob is looking for you").

I need to meet all of you. You'll find I'm a wiseacre pretty quickly and take very few things seriously.
In that post I was just playing the "elitist fear card" in jest. The school she is going to ROCKS!!! I'm stoked that we're getting it FOR FREE too!!!! Woo Hoo!
So far I've only met Pete and Curtis from BF and that was about 160 miles into the Davis Double this year... None of us were up for a whole lot of wackiness at that point.
Back to the Crater Lake thread... Sounds like a lot of fun that will be missed.

We went to Crater Lake earlier this year. BRING MOSQUITO REPELLENT!!!
We might do this next year. The elevation is too high for us at the moment, and the distance too great.
