Pete, you're always welcome to ride with us. We do a co-ed Sunday ride on the 2nd Sunday of each month.

We have an email group for men (announcements only) for our co-ed and men's only rides and clinics:

I SUCK!!!!

Lorri, sorry, I flaked.

But I have somewhat a genuine excuse: I woke up at 6:20 and my sore throat got worse overnight. It was a matter of either toughing it out and risk prolonging the cold, or back to bed and sleep to fight another day....

Do I hear violin playing somewhere?

I could barely turn over the pedals today and finally bailed and let Pete lead the group the rest of the way. it's hard to say "uncle," but today I had to.

ain't no sandbagger here.

OMG, There were no less than 5 flats today! I was fun and great meeting new people. Pete lead six of us around a loop through Samuel P. Taylor park that was pretty nice. I got the last flat on the way back through Fairfax and Pete stay behind to accompany me back to SF. The other four continued on due to the day getting late. It was great riding to the sandwich shop in Lagunitas with Elizabeth, Sylvia, Erin, Singe (sp), and Pete.

Thanks Lorri, you lead a great ride and hopefully we boys won't bring so much flat karma on future co-ed rides.

I contributed 3 flats!

The original flat was a puncture. The next two flats were probably caused by the puncture hole in the tire. Apparently it was big enough to cause a problem for the inner tubes. I finally gave up on the ride, sat on the curb, patched 2 spare tubes and the tire. Finally got everything up and running about 20 minutes later. Rode home with my tail between my legs. Bad tire karma day.

I did enjoy the people on the ride, though. Too bad it was so short. I'll have to do it again next month.

Alan, that's amazing. I looked for a slice in the tire and didn't find it. When we rode back through at the end of the day, we were glad not to see you sitting on the side of the road.

Next month, September 14th -- 8:15am at Presidio Sports Basement.

Thanks all for joining us today!

My flat happen 1/2 a block from a bike shop. I bought a tube from them even though I had THREE in my jersey pockets (now to start wrapping my MTB chainstay). The shard of glass in my tire was not apparent and until I found the hole in the tube and searched the tire casing inside-out near the hole did I find and dig it out. That was my first flat in well over a year, maybe two.

BTW, 72 miles, 7100ft of climbing according to Mr. Garmin. More than we were planning.

I only have 1865 and 120 of that was this past weekend (210 in this past week while the family was out of town).

Did you find what was causing the flats?
