Looks like a great deal. Anyone have these? Do they hold up? These are $24.99 each at my LBS.... they're wire bead.

My experience with Specialized tires was very bad.

I only used the All Condition sport tires for a short time a few years ago. Granted, I haven't used very many different road tires but my impression was that they rolled good enough and flatted about as much as any other average road tire would. Overall, nothing special. I didn't have them on the bike long enough to see how long they'd last. For $25/tire, you could probably do better.

The All Condition Armadillo, OTOH, is a tire I have many thousands of miles of experience with. I have about 10-11,000 miles on 2 sets of ACA's. I retired the rear 700 x 25 tire on one set after 7,000 miles. It never flatted and wasn't even completely worn. I honestly just got tired of using it with the ever growing flat spot and wanted to switch to 23's. I have somewhere between 3-4000 miles on the 23s again without a single flat. I expect them to last at least 7000 miles. I put 10,000 miles on a pair of Nimbus Armadillo tires without a single puncture flat before the rubber completely wore through to the casing on the rear tire.

for comparison sake, my bike came with Specialized Turbo tires (now retired I think) and the rear wore out in about 1200 miles and flatted about 10 times during that period.

Since I bought these two sets of Armadillo tires, the price has gone up almost 30% to $45/tire which is a bit of a turn off. But, if you want a very puncture proof tire that will last a long time, they are a pretty good deal.

Bikes: Gilmour road, Curtlo road; both steel (of course)

I use Specialized Turbo somethings in 100 x 26 and I love 'em. These are folders; I don't like wire beads.

They feel good, don't flat any worse than anything else, and I love the 130 psi pressure.

The slick treads rock, too.

Thanks guys. I think I'll steer clear of the Specialized brand for now. I have some 32's on my Tricross, maybe I should wear them out instead.
