Charity ride enthusiast
I live in the flats in Houston TX, but ride in the rolling hills west of town, currently on an Airborne Carpe Diem (titanium) cyclocross road bike. Don't know how that happened! Husband bought the same bike one year earlier, and I was convinced that having the Airborne would be an improvement over my Bianchi. However, the Airborne, which I have successfully ridden in four years' worth of charity rides and two-day MS-150 rides from Houston to Austin, weighs 22#. Friends have purchased various CF bikes and/or chromolly (sp) bikes and seem to ride effortlessly past me on bikes weighing 16-17#, which is an unfair advantage in my view! Thus, I am hoping to add a carbon fibre bike to our "stable" very soon! I am hoping to become more educated about types of road bikes, as well as garner tips on improving speed and hill climbing techniques, through this forum.

Hello evaq, there are days when it seems as if my fleetest steed is stodgy and sullen--then I discover it's just me! But my bikes are all cromoly, and I have not a single carbon fibre bike in the lot.
