My Surprise Ride to THe BEach...

Hi,
Was taking my time rolling alon damneck road and headed towards the Beach and Noticed all the roads were blocked off,Police all had their lights on and waving people over to the detour,,, road up to a city worker and said whats up.
Its The Rock and Roll marathon. WOW. DUH, I live under a rock..
It was a blast, I rode all the way down to the beach and cheered the runners along.
I went over the overpass at rudee's inlet a rather steep hill.
And there was a band playing ever so many blocks, all the roades were roaped off for pedesatrians, it was a great day to be there.
I had no idea how much the city goes out of its way to make it a pleasent day.
I rode over 30 miles and not a car in site.. Here's a link .....

Sometimes the most memorable adventures are the unplanned ones.
Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like a blast.

I don't understand why all those people are running though. Did someone steal their bicycles? Are they chasing after the thieves?

I travel to Virginia Beach every year. What's it like living there. How are the winters, weather wise.

Thanks For looking

HI.
The winter are becoming more mild, when I lived here 20 years ago it would drop into the 20's in Jan now its mostly 30"s .
The traffic is becoming a problem , they say that this area is growing a little to fast.
Doug
Its probably because there's about 5 military bases and there's quite a large number of ships that come home here, Many active duty can do sea Duty at norfolk and shore duty a little creek, damneck or norfolk,
and if your medical there's one rather large Hospital and four to five medical clinics.
So thats why its growing alittle to fast ,like me there's alot of retired people staying after buying. i retired here in 89.
This has inflated the housing market and prevented that drop seen across the county.
