bullhorn brakes
I am planning on switching out the handlebars on my 08 Schwinn Madison with bullhorns but I'm unsure of what brakes to use. Heres the bar I'm thinking of getting

These brake levers fit right in the end of the bar right? Also, is the installation fairly easy?
https://www.pricepoint.com/detail.htm...8&hprice=24.98
Just want to make sure before I order them.
Thanks,
Peter

I like putting "cyclocross" levers on my bullhorns. It moves the levers in a little closer and leaves the ends of the bars open for shifters. They also usually cost a little less.

This would be a good idea if the OP plans on doing most riding on the flats, otherwise the bullhorn/TT levers would probably be preferable. The Madison is a single-speed/fixed-gear, so no need to worry about shifters.

I think that is a great idea... except I would do it differently... put the drop-bar levers on the bends of the bars (where the bars turn from forward facing to lateral facing) then put the cyclocross interrupter style brakes out at the end... this will be extra coon because the cables will stick waaa-aaay out like old style hi-wire cable routing. You can be like all the heroes - Grege Lemonde and Eddye Merycxe.

if he usually runs it fixed and is good with foot braking, the he could put the levers on the flats so they're out of the way when he's hammering it with his hands on the 'horns'

Oh, I see.
The lever mounts are closer, but the levers themselves are in the same place as if they were mounted on the ends.
I'm actually going to cut down my bars a bit anyway — the stretch is farther than is comfortable.
