Celebrating the Silver Comet Trail

There's a party to celebrate the pouring of the last foot of the SCT on Saturday September 27th. Details here:
https://pathfoundation.org/pathfounda...aveTheDate.pdf

Of course that happens to be the day of the Georgia/Alabama game but I know I'll be there.

I'm teaching a bike class that day at Emory so I won't be able to make it.

Anyone who's interested in taking the class (or on another date) contact Rebecca at the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign.

Sorry about highjacking your thread.

Hijacking for bicycle education is always allowed.

The word must be getting around. A guy came into the shop today and asked if we had any details about the "dedication" of the final section of the Silver Comet Trail.

Heard this afternoon that Georgia/Bama is going to be the 7:45pm ESPN game - plenty of time to ride all day and then be somewhere in time to see the Dawgs slap Bammer around. See ya'll at the State Line!

So far only two people have registered for the class so maybe I can make it.

I really enjoy teaching but riding 61 miles to the dedication sounds like a lot more fun. I've never ridden the full length of the SCT - only about 25 miles out and then back. Sounds like fun, except for the 7:30 a.m. departure time.

Are most Atlanta folks riding from Smyrna (mile marker 0) or Mableton (Floyd Road, mile marker 4.3) or Florence road (mile marker 9) or where is the best meeting place?

I wish there was another one of those on the south side. Several great ones out here in SoCal.

How many dozens (hundreds ) do you think there will be?
If the dedication is at 2 p.m. and everyone hangs around until, say 3 p.m., that means it will be DARK or very close to it by the time everyone gets back to Mavell Rd. And I know my 63 year old body won't be up for doing another 61 miles for the ride back, so does anyone know who to contact to make arrangements for a ride back on one of the "team buses"?

You might contact Jett from atlanta intown cycling. His wife works for PATH so he's probably in the know.

For those who may need a ride back to Smyrna, I got this name and phone from the folks at PathFoundation.

So how was the ride?
None of the folks in my class seemed to care that we all missed the ride and dedication. Newbies!!
