Laid Back Sunday, Lake Loop out of Vacaville

My wife and I found a sitter for Sunday and are planning to do the Lake Loop out of Vacaville. Same as the Foxy's Fall Mini-Training ride that we did last Sunday. https://www.bikeforums.net/northern-california/461215-foxy-s-fall-mini-training.html

Start around 8 or 8:15 pending when arriving. Right by the clock tower in Vacaville.

The ride is approx 58 miles, and 3000 feet of climbing. We'll follow laid back rules. No one gets left or dropped. Lots of regroups. There are a couple of places for water refills.

So, if you're not going to do any of the riding in Folsom, please join us!

RSVP here....

Is this a repeat of last week's ride?

We may be in, on the tandem. I'll confirm tomorrow, after we've had a chance to really think about it.

So did you get a new gruppo? Or are you a sucka for punishment?

Yup, same as last week. And I'm just going to have to suffer some more.

Sounds good Scott! Keep in mind the slightly later start. Due to the time we can get the kids to the sitter for the day.

Looks like we're good to go with the tandem. We'll be slogging up the hills with you. Since you already know what it takes to do 121, bring it! This time will be easier.

I did this same ride yesterday - but counterclockwise. I'm feeling it today! I would have joined up for this one but my Sunday's are booked through February... I'm a NFL junkie.

It was a great ride. It was a small group today, RedRider, cgallagh, JoelS and his wife Bess, and myself. We changed the route due to very heavy boat trailer traffic, and rode a Gordon Valley Loop with a climb up Twin Sisters Road for some climbing for JoelS. I spent most of the ride in back regretting last night's partying. I didn't think to shoot any pictures until Twin Sisters.

Here is Joel enjoying one of the many switchbacks on Twin Sisters

cgallagh and RedRider showing how well a good tandem team can climb

Bess and her can do attitude

Thank goodness I avoided the camera today.

You avoided the camera because you are the only one to have brought one! One of these days I'll get one...

Fun ride today. Thanks for coming!

That hill was crazy. 16% was as high as my computer recorded, and a lot at 12 and 14%.

Here's the chart:

Good thing I don't have graph to look at! I was intimidated by our 4.8 mph up that really steep part before the 2nd cattle guard. When we go that slow I fear we'll topple over like Arte Johnson.

It was a good ride, a good time, and I hope Bess enjoyed herself.
