Hi from D.C.

Hi everyone. Someone stole my bike from the basement of my building not too long ago, and I stumbled on BikeForums while trying to figure out what I would buy to replace it. I wanted something that I could safely store inside my place, since this is at least the 3rd bike theft from my building in the last couple of years, and a folding bike seemed like the best option (I don't have a lot of space). Last night I placed an order for a Downtube 8H, after reading lots of positive reviews of the company and the bike model here on BikeForums. I probably would never have even heard of Downtube if I hadn't read about them here . . . Anyway, I mostly ride here in the city, and I'm looking forward to trying out the bike when it arrives. Thanks BF!

Welcome to the world of folding bikes.

Get an bag from ikea or elsewhere and you can take it on the metro during rush hour- I had a station manager yell at me once for not using it.

Sorry to hear that, I'm moving back to DC next week after 14 years away... My bike will sleep with me upstairs, I hear the same thing is happening in my building up Wisconsin Ave.. Actually the rack is full of old clunkers so any functionally ok bike will outshine the others and get spotted right away. Buy one of those hang from the wall hooks and keep it upstairs...i like single wheel hooks .. my wife hates them... I keep saying my bike is a work of art!!!

Of course it's a work of art!

I am also a new forums member living in DC and there is no chance that a bike on the wall is not a piece of art. Even better if it's something super strange like a too tall or super svelte like a track bike.

Hmmm, super strange? How about a Richard Sachs bike built for someone 4'10"?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !
