Upgrading an Old Italvega to Octalink
why is this BB so inexpensive? Does it suck?

What are some better options for upgrading an old Italian bike to a modern (Octalink/ISIS/Megaexo) BB?

Not sure. They are entry level but at 300g they're not that much heavier than an Ultegra BB at 250g.
I wonder what the bearing setup is like or how smooth they actually spin. At this price, I can't say that I would be disappointed with anything as long as the thing spun somewhat freely.

This is an E-type mountain bike Octalink V2 BB. It's deep-splined for triples.
The Drive Side cup is displaced to compensate for the front derailer mounting bracket.
Don't try running a double road crank on it or risk destroying the arms. If you're running a triple, you can buy a BB cup spacer to properly align the drive side.
