Would you ever steal a bike?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Would you ever steal a bike?

Im just throwing this question up and out there.... But would you? Any bike in the world? And you would not get caught?

I personally wouldnt because i feel that the karma done by this action will come back and find you... so its a no for me.. you?

No, and I wouldn't roll a tubular taking out a whole pack, because I was too stubborn to let somebody show me how to do it right the first time. I think that would also be bad karma.

The fact that you even had to ask in the first place is pretty depressing.

I can think of circumstances under which I'd probably be willing steal a bike, but they're all prefaced by the little digital clock graphics from 24.

No, and it would even be worse for a cyclist to steal another cyclist bike.

Indeed.

It's certainly a darker shade of gray, but were survival to make it necessary...

I know for a fact I wouldn't. One time last winter I stopped at an LBS in a nearby town to get a new headset. I walked into the store and all the lights were out. I walked around saying "hello? hello?" and no one answered. If I had wanted to I could have taken the headset as well as any bike I wanted and probably got away with it. Sure, in the moment I thought "what if?" but I didn't do it. I guess mom and dad would have been really proud of me.

No.

Unless there was a huge comet coming to crush the earth and Angelina Jolie was waiting for me to show up at the gravitron spacescope site with the unobtainium orb that will allow her to create a nuetrino beam that will repel the comet, maybe.

In the final scene of my movie, Angelina and I are attempting to procreate as the nuetrino beam strikes the comet and the screen fades to black as we hear Pcad saying in a solemn voice "HTFU Comet!"

I don't believe in karma and if there was no chance in hell of me being caught I would still not steal a bike. Some things are so uncool you simply don't do them regardless of the consequences or non-consequences.

Nope.

But if a disgruntled spouse decided to sell their cheating other's bike for a cheap price, I'm in!

You have a problem. If I'm writing a movie with me and Agelina Jolie, it sure as heck is not going to include Pcad.

If she has an ice cream cone to steal as well, then count me in.

But did you take the headset and leave the cash on the counter? That would have been honest and still freaked the manager out.

Only if my survival or the survival of others depended on it.
Other than that it's just plain stupid and, depending on which bike you steal, a felony!!

I get it now. He stole the HED's from a shop-that's why he can't get them to show him how to glue them up. And now he's looking for absolution in the form of "Wouldn't you?"

there have been a few times on campus i've been running late walking by a bike rack looking for an unlocked one. Never found one, but if I did, i'd put it back when I was done.

that's about as far as i'd go
