bump &
Does anyone want to carpool up with me from Mountain View or surrounding area? I'd love to go on the ride but I don't relish the idea of driving up to the city and trying to meet people on my own.

You might surprise yourself. You could always bail out in a bunch of places.

Michael,
You should definitely come. I think I'll do what Ron suggested and catch the first train to SF (7:19am in MV though. )
I'm also awaiting the route. Last week was up there on my difficulty scale, so if this is harder I may also be looking for a bail-out point.

I'll be there Chris. It's the only way I'll be a stronger cyclist. No pain, no gain.

Cool. Is everyone taking the early train? It gets to SF at 8:30ish, is that time to grab coffee somewhere along the way to the meeting point?

I'll take the train if going solo. Drive to Sports Basement if taking the tandem.

I'm most likely (and regrettably) a no as I anticipate this ride won't finish until 2 (in an optimistic sense) in the afternoon, and my arriving at home around 4 in the afternoon will be "frowned upon" by the spousal voting bloc. Can someone strap on a GPS unit and stream the progress of the ride for those of us that can't make it?

Here is the route in two parts since bikely crashes often when creating longer routes.
https://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...xtended-ride-1
https://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...xtended-ride-2
The pace needs to be fairly quick if to complete the entire ride as it does extend out to the north quite a bit.
Climbs:
Camino Alto
Sir Francis Drake climbing out of Fairfax
Nicasio Valley Road from right turn off of Sir Francis Drake
Point Reyes/Petaluma Road after right turn from Nicasio Valley Road
Marshall wall on Marshall Petaluma Road
HW1 southbound has plenty of annoying rollers to it
At roughly mile 70 is where the real climbing begins up to Tam if that route is taken. Other option would be to continue south to Stinson Beach and climb out from there up Panoramic Highway. Returning earlier via Sir Francis Drake has been pre-vetoed.. right Marco and Pete??
The extra loop north could be cut out by making a left at Point Reyes Petaluma instead of right, but the past few times we have done that.

Wow, that's quite a route. I'm going to need a bigger bag to carry enough food. At least the weather is looking good.

I have to take the cat to the vet in the AM, but will head out as soon as I can and meet up with you all somewhere along the route.
I think I'll be about 1 hour behind you at the bridge, maybe I should ride the TT bike and try to catch up

That route is something fierce! I might have to modify that route so I don't get killed. I'm not wussing-out just yet.
