Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Is this a worthy purchase?

Personally, I think those are excellent parts. I think $175 would be almost a steal, and $200 a very good deal. If it was 57-60cm, I'd be very interested.

Building a bike for your son? Bah! Sounds like one of the nicest things a father could do for his son!

How old is he?

If it is local to you then, yes, it is a good deal. Show up with $180 in hand and I bet he takes it. If you have to ship it, etc, then it is not such a great deal. The frame new is $200 at Bikeisland.com

+1

He said OBO so I bet you could get him to go lower.

Even at that price, it seems like a good deal, as long as there are no hidden costs like shipping.

Well, I emailed my offer. Let's hope he takes it. I think my 12 yr old son will dig it once built.
