At least someone does.
The FTP tracking is good point though. Maybe I will test the week after the race just so I have a number to compare to.

You're really over thinking it.
In the last 3 weeks, I've done 3 subsequent efforts attempting to disprove my initial ftp test. A 10 mile time trial at Lowes motor speedway, a 10K rolling effort I use as a monthly fitness test and a 20 min climb up Hanging Rock State Park. Each time I attempted to maintain what I thought my ftp "should" be and each time it proved itself to be correct from the first test(+/- 5 watts).
Suck is suck and it hasn't killed me yet. At least I have my zones.
Moving on.

is there any way to change the date of a ride from within goldencheetah? For example I pulled the battery out of my computer and put it back in, but forgot to reset the date. How do I change that info in a file I downloaded?

There are date fields inside you can change and then reimport.

I downloaded the source code and was going to try to sort it out and add this feature.
It's already in there and trivial, once the development catches up with the releases or whatever.
From the ride summary page it is just a little dialog which says what day and time the ride occurred. you can change it there and save. (don't know when this will be in the actual release, though)

Just change the name of the .gc file for the ride. If you select the Help->About menu you will find a link directing you to the file repository. If you open the .gc file you can also change the start date of the ride but you still need to adjust the date using the file name. The filename should look like: 2010_07_20_08_58_25.gc The first three numbers are the date (yyyy_mm_dd) and the last two are the start time.

It doesn't need to be any more difficult than a normal interval workout. The point is to do the test the same way every time (4-6wks) with reasonably fresh legs. It's just a baseline to use in setting your interval workouts and to use in pacing yourself on longer efforts.

thanks for whoever added this in. now it's just a matter of seeing GC1.4.0
edit: don't know why the black bar showed up in my screenshot, but you can see the time and date adjustment near the bottom.

whatever version of GC I have always asks me to confirm the date when I import. so, when I've had to re-use a ride (forgot my garmin 1 day, had a similar ride from a week earlier, just for weekly STS approximation) I just reimported and changed the date at time of import.

I ran into an interesting problem last night. The other day I went to download my PT CPU into WKO+. It freaked for some reason (I hit download before I had turned on the CPU). The screen said "host" and wouldn't turn off, so I left it alone. The next day it still said "host" so I figured I'd need to take out the battery, which I did. All of my data was gone from the screen so I figured it was gone from the CPU and went to go ride. (I was in a hurry and didn't change the date). Got home, went to download the ride and it The TrainingPeaks Device Agent would download it, but when I went to save it, it would act like it did, but it wouldn't show up in my profile. I searched all dates, tried it multiple times, etc. No dice. Went to Golden Cheetah and it downloaded but had lots of warnings about the time jumping back 2758372358 minutes backwards during the ride. So, my original ride that I couldn't download was still there, but when I yanked the battery it reset the date and WKO+ was freaking out about that. So I exported a csv file from Golden Cheetah and imported into WKO+ and it was all there.

so I'm sure this is answered about 17 times in this thread, but I can't find it.
Since I had so much time off I need to reestablish my FTP. I'm gonna use Monod I think, and 3/10/20 minute durations. Should I not do these all in the same day? If it's ok to do them in the same day, is there an order I should do them in that makes sense?

I'd just do (3|5)/15 for monod, different days.
A friend of mine just got his srm. We were comparing some notes, we're within 3# of each other, within 5w of each other for the 20', nearly identical 1' power (his is a little higher), but jesus, his 5' power is something like 60w higher than mine (and mine 5' power puts me in the high cat2/low cat1 realm).

ok, so just 3 minute and 15 minute? If I want to do them back to back days, should I do the 3 minute today and 15 tomorrow?

Did the 3 minute today. Pathetic, but I suppose about what I was expecting. 286W for 3 minutes. Puts me around 200W for FTP probably. I'll do 15 minutes tomorrow or Sunday to confirm. That's about where I thought it was anyway, so it all adds up.
I was hoping it would say my FTP was 350... but I knew it was probably more like 200W. Before my time off I was creeping towards 250W. Time to start over I guess. A solid 2.3W/kg FTP. lol.

For what it's worth, Monod uses the short duration test essentially to establish your anaerobic capacity. The "better" you do on the short test, the more it factors AC out of your longer test, and the "worse" it makes your FTP
Edit: Looking at it another way, it's like when you do a 20 minute test and then take 95% for your FTP. That percentage is to account for your AC. So the worse your AC, the higher percentage of your long test is your FTP, rather than just assuming 95%.

Glad you told me that now. I might've cheated. I still might bump the average 5W for the downhill portion, but I don't think it will matter much. I basically know my FTP is about 200W.

about 2.3 W/kg. I'm working on the weight. I'm 193 right now, used to race at 170 and I'll get back there shortly.
