Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Try babel fish. Don't know if they support the language, but it's a start.

Just make sure to take the fish out before the Vogans read their poetry, horrible stuff. I'd rather chew my arm off.

Tranlated to Danish at this website, https://translation.langenberg.com/
fixed gear = nagelfast indgreb
single speed = ugifte hastighed

to Swedish
fixed gear = fästad redskap
single speed = enkel fart

Thanks man, but thatīs the direct translation of each word.
Gear has several meanings, and when you combine the words ex Fixed gear, they form their own word...

1: The closest you'll get to a Swedish terminology would be 'fast utväxling' or 'fast drev' for 'fixed gear; [/]'track bike[/I] translates into 'bancykel' in Swedish ('banecykel' in Danish). Singlespeed is, well, singlespeed. These words are pretty sketchy and un-googlable, though: there are only about 10-15 FG riders in Sweden, the last velodrome closed in the 60s, and you'll have a hard time finding people who know what you're on about (for LBSs, you might want to try Dr Spoke on Asogatan or Cykellabbet on, I think, Kocksgatan if you're in the Stockholm region).
2: I've been messengering in Tallinn for a while, but I still keep in touch with most of the Swedish FG riders through a mailing list I set up last year - e-mail me (jacob at jacob dot net) and I'll add you. For the Copenhagen scene, try www.cph-fxt.ownsthis.com.
