As long as nobody saw the rocket trail going skyward from his house, he should be okay.

Mira Mesa is farther north
Military, commercial, and general aviation crashes seem to be a part, fortunately small, of living in San Diego County. I used to work near Miramar, and now I work adjacent to the Palomar-McClellan runway, but the odds of being hit by a plane are so small that I do not really worry about it.

When I was a teen, I lived across the street from my biology teacher.
Years before I moved there, one morning a fighter jet from MacDill AFB (A plane a day in Tampa Bay) crashed into her house minutes after she and her daughter left for school. The house was rebuilt, but also, she married the man who came out to investigate the accident.

Thanks for the concern! The incident was miles from me, in a nice, but crowded neighborhood that houses thousands of mostly military families, called Mira Mesa. Tragic for the victims and their families. It was somewhat fortunate that it wasn't worse than it actually was.
The area where the plane hit was just a mile off the runway... the debate now seems to be "Gee, if they knew the plane was in trouble, why let it fly over a heavily populated area?" Apparently the plane was in trouble just moments after takeoff from a carrier... perhaps a water ditch might have been prudent... but only the airboss and pilot know for sure.
There was a family of 4 killed in the house the plane crashed into. The pilot was OK, ejected after trying to aim the plane toward an empty canyon just to the other side of the struck house. Just missed a local high school.
