Video Clip of Mr. Beanz on the Climb!

One of my SoCal buds shot this video on one of the forum rides up the mtns. a while back. I was holding back with Gina but turned on the burners at the top! One guy accused him of speeding up the vid!
It's cool, short lil clip but Cole (BF'er) aded some Who music.

Thanks Cole!

Good gracious, man! I would have been a huffin and a puffin in the slowest set of gears up that hill.

Way to go.

Thanks! Just a note, I was 25 lbs over my best climbing weight at that time!

I would have been the guy passed out on the side of the road half way up! I don't know how you do it Beanz, it's pretty darn flat around here, and I've just started riding a route that takes me up a pretty steep hill to start working on climbing, and so far I'm mostly working on walking and pushing!

It is not as much my legs as my shortness of breath. I can feel myself getting better, but that was a nice climb. WTG Mr. Beanz.

You guy can do it. It's really a matter of getting used to it. You can tell that the muscles are hit at a different angle while climbing. IF I climb alot, then return to the flats, pretty much the same thing, I need to readjust. Just do some long climbs and take your time. Don't push, name of the game is make it up. You'll notice you are "making it up" faster each time. It's all practice and not letting other riders make you believe that Clydes can't climb!

The elevation graph for the 8 mile climb. This is after a few miles on the way to the mtn. I'm sure if Gina can do it, you can too. Not easy and not one of her favorites, but she did it!Actually she's made it up 16 miles on two other rides.

What kind of grade? I ride with a guy who goes to Californis every year for a month and he says the climbs are way long but not real steep. He says he has a harde rtime on our short climbs like 2-3k but they always seem to end in a double digit grade. Either way thats an explosive burst. I love attacking the hills.

Graph of this 8 miler is above. 6% average for the 8 miles. The entire GMR/GRR ride is 21 miles, First 8 6% and the following 13 is like 5'ish. The grades I've done out here are not real steep but climbingup to 8400 feet with a 62 mile climb is a little harder than a 2-3 k climb. Another climb I did was a 22% climb at the end of a 20 mile climb. Now that hurt!

Couple of the rides I've done. The Bear 3 times and Breathless Agony once!

Check out these profiles, a lil harder than 2-3 k ...114 miles with 12,0000ft of climbing with some double digits at about 14%

I'm going to do this one again in June! Another 100 miler

Hehehe! It's not really that hard. If you build up the endurance, I think you'd be surprised how much a clyde can do. On a ride like this, if you hold a pace, you can outride plenty of others. When I was in shape, I did best on The Bear. Lots of riders blowing by me at the bottom, lite racer types. By the time we hit 30-40 miles of climbing, I was riding by them and passing them back!...At a good pace, not overextending myself. then it's about endurance and not sprinting uphills!...I believe I finished #123 out of 400 rides Timed event). Not bad fror a Clyde!

The hard part for me would be the pacing as I tend to attack the hills just to get them over with. You'd have a blast in my riding area, rolling terrian and hills everywhere. Very little flat land at all. Of coarse if I want a flat ride I just go west about 4ok and not a hile for miles. Gets a little boriing though.
