Post pics of your Brooks saddles!
i know there are a lot out there, so i thought it would be useful to have one place for everyone to post their pics. I ordered mine and im waiting for it to come in so ill post as soon as i get it. Also, whenever i see pics of brooks saddles, they seem to be angled with the tip facing upwards, why is that??

I paid $30 for the WHOLE BIKE in September 08.
The hub date is 65 12, so I'm calling the bike a 1966 model.Why is the nose tipped up? I don't know and I can't say, except that for some reason it just feels right that way.

wow great deal... i just paid $110 for a saddle.. lol. is your saddle more comfortable angled that way than if it were just flat?

Because that's how they work the best. Tipping the nose up forces you to sit on your sitbones rather than sitting on your soft parts.

I think it is the way the saddle is designed. Mine is also tilted up like that, if I had a more adjustable seat post that let me change the angle I'm sure I could "fix" it, but it rides great just the way it is, so, as it goes: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Yeah. The thing to remember is that it isn't a rigid substrate with padding; it's a suspension seat, kind of like a hammock. I think that has something with the feel of it and why it's better with the nose up.
Also, in my case I think it has something to do with the upright posture of the bike.

My oldest, a Brooks Pro, is still going strong after 32 years.
As for saddle angle, I see no need to tilt a Brooks saddle differently than any other saddle. Leather saddles are often slippery when new and so some people feel a need to tilt them up slightly. My experience is that this is not necessary after a week or so of riding and application of Proofide (which should be the only conditioning you should use, except for perhaps an occasional clean w/ saddle soap).

what kind of bar tape do you have? i was going trying to decide between some tan colored tape or natural color, couldnt really tell which would be nice with a honey brooks saddle so i ended up with a corky colored cinelli bar tape. still waitin on it to come in the mail.

Front to back - B68, B17 Imperial, B15, not pictured is a B17 to be mounted on 76 Superior.
PS: Regarding tilt up, it is keep you from sliding off forward after poofing the saddle. Mine are almost level with nose higher. Most comfortable. The B15 has not been adjusted yet, the bike is being refurbished yet in this picture.

There is not performance advantage, it is purely cosmetic. The special has copper rivets and rails, and the sides are skirted. It just looks a little classier that way.

bike20.jpgMy B17 Special I bought last summer just before the Brooks prices shot up. After four successive days on my Terry Liberator, I found it pretty painful and went the leather saddle route. I've been comfortable ever since.

This is my Brooks Flyer with a LD slot cut in it by Sella Anatomica. I am getting a Black B17 shortly, and will no doubt sent that to them as well.
