Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's just about as smart as buying a Cadillac or a Lincoln w/ a big V8 and driving it 10 miles under the speed limit. There are just some things that should never be done. That being said. I think I'm a little jealous.

Poor form, Mr. President. My roommate has that bike in its 2nd largest size, and let me tell you - its a boat anchor with poor welds.

I really love this bike. My only gripe is what the hell is that second computer going to do that the Garmin 705 won't?

I used to run a second computer with my Garmin.
Basic speed and mileage on the regular computer, everything else on the Garmin.

We have a customer with a bike just like that, except it's a Cervelo Soloist Carbon with carbon riser bar, 808s, XTR shifters, Blackburn rack, Garmin, electric horn, HRM mount, and plastic/alloy toe clip pedals. I'll have to see if I can find the pictures of it.....
Before the Soloist, he had a Trek Y-Foil set up the same way.

there's nothing wrong with the bike! Besides, i think the guy put the bike together how HE wanted it. It probably rides sweet, it's just the color scheme that's garish, that's all. Anyone know how to use software to change color on images? Do the bike in full matt black and take a second look at "the TRICKEST bike you'll ever see."

Please do! I'd really like to see another one of these unbelievably over-the-top commuters.

I knew this bike was missing something- it's the carbon risers.

Hey. At least he's riding a bike and not guzzling gas. If he wants to spend 12 large on a ridiculously overpriced commuter. Good for him. To me, other than the bling blow, it's not different than the Moots CoMooter.

Madones start at about $2500, wheels probably cost say, $1200 or so. Add all the "upgrades", and $5K is in reach (and that's assuming he has the cheapest Madone)

That is certainly not my style I do not condemn nor mock him. If he is happy who cares...I certainly wouldn't were it me.
I liken it to the city dweller driving his Lambo to work never exceeding 30 or 40 mph, or the person checking the time on his/her $5000 Rolex, etc. etc. etc. How about those with gold plated toilets? They clog and must be plunged just like the $100 Home Depot model LOL.
It is no big deal to me but not my style.

I'm pretty surprised this is a guy's actual bike too. It looks like something a bike shop would do with their inventory just to mess around. Props to the guy for supporting his LBS though.
