Colnago track series 1985: Genuine?
Can someone share their insights as to whether they think that this little number is the real deal. ie is it a real colnago or fauxnago?
The owner says it was made in 1985.
these are the pics that he gave me. I don't know if they are going to be able to shed any light on the issue, considering that the BB shell is not shown, nor the dropouts. Any information or opinions would be appreciated though.
thanks in advance.

Nice bike but it's not a Colnago IMO. No Colnago I have or had has the cutouts on all the lugs as this one. Also, the cutouts on the fork crown look iffy and the ones on the side of the fork crown are "Non-Colnago-ish."

No "Colnago" engraving in the seat stays is enough proof for me that it isn't a Colnago.
The clover cutouts are highly questionable as well - they look like three holes drilled in such a fashion to approximate the Colnago cutouts.
Big-time fake, but one nice bike regardless.

Colnagos of that vintage had really nicely filed lugs that almost blended right into the tubes. The color looks authentic. Does it change color under different light sources? A friend had one that was similarly colored, and it looked different under flourescent lights than under regular bulbs, and in daylight.

I've seen a Godefroot with all those same lug cutouts. Do a search here and you'll find it.

Yeah. Looking at the engraving on the fork and frame stays, i had my doubts. the paint job is new, so the seller could well be aware of its inauthenticity. I might use this info to renegotiate the price a little.
Thanks for the information and advice.
