Do all/most/few charity rides have minimum contributions? I have been out of cycling for a while and used to ride for events when possible but the ones I see now seem to have minimums. I is mostly broke most of the time, mostly...

Raising money is why they are called charity rides. If you can't raise money by getting donations to ride, consider being a ride volunteer. Without volunteers at the water stops and meals stops these rides won't run. That way you can still help raise money, just indirectly, for you favorite charity.

Sorry if I was unclear-I am willing to contribute, raise donations, etc. but 250.00 is what I saw for one ride and is a lot of money. Seems they are missing out on lower amounts that kids or us broke folk may be able to contribute or raise. I remember a ride a long time ago where people could pledge certain amounts per mile you would ride and later you would mail it in. Thanks for the responses. Tag, you're "it".

Plenty of rides have considerably higher contribution commitments, and some offer quite a bit more on the line of organized training in return. It still all goes to good causes, and everyone benefits. Can't do SAG supported rides with out some fund raising or costs being covers by some other form of donations.
