How much does it cost to true a wheel?
I must have hit a pot hole or something...
Just kidding. I went too wide today in the final turn at el dorado crit practice and was forced to hop the curb to avoid taking out the whole field. Strangely enough I didn't go down.... neither did anyone else. I'd glad no one was hurt... except my wallet. Oh ya I hit the curb so hard with my back wheel I broke my seat in half

Hi,
Good job not doing more damage to you or the bike and not taking anyone else out. I didn't see or hear about your incident while I was there.
Hope the replacement parts don't set you back too much.

That break in the rim is too clean. It looks like you hit it right on a weld.
Glad you came out of it unscathed.

Wuss ... We've determined it's ok to race with a broken spoke. A little bend in the rim is no big deal
PS ... good job staying vertical

Meh, just throw it on E-bay saying it's only been in one race and has cosmetic scratches from mounting.
Personally, I'd have a chat with the folks from AC. That's an odd looking failure.

That rim is infamous for being one of the weakest aluminum rims out there. Of course, I don't know many road bike rims that would still be rideable after hitting a curb like that. If you're gonna bunny hop the curb, you just gotta hope to clear it completely.

I got the front wheel over fine (I know how to bunnyhop). I think at the speed I just didn't have enough space to get the rear over. Oh well that's racing. Maybe this is the excuse I was looking for to buy a powertap.

+1 for not taking out the field and another +1 for somehow remaining upright allowing yourself to race again next week.

I think I am going to see how much it will cost to get a new hoop and re-lace the hub... then I will use the wheels again for racing. Depends on how much it costs.

If the AC rim costs too much, I suggest just relacing it to something like the Kinlin XR-300. Stronger, not much heavier, and almost as aero.
