Kick my butt... please
Hi all
Our friend in the fixed gear forum, Lucklust (Torrin Arnold) is planning on doing the Aids/Life Cycle ride to San Francisco in June on a fixed gear. He was recently struck by a car apparently driven by a drunk driver, but still intends to do the ride. His setback because of his injuries have prompted me to get of my butt and exercise my plastic.
I'm challenging everyone on the board to meet or exceed my donation of $50 USD in support of this cause and Torrin's testículos grandes in doing the ride (or even if his doc locks him in a closet so he can't do it). If you don't have any 50 bones you can put up, do what you can.

I'm down for $25.00. One can also donate via Torrin's paypal account : lucklust@yahoo.com, you just need to specify for what the payment is.
Good luck, Torrin! The pics aren't nearly as gruesome as I hoped!

Bikes: Can't stand the damn things...
Hi everyone...
The swelling has gone down a bit, but the jaw is still pretty mangled. The oral surgeon said they'd be able to fix my jaw, but it'll probably take a few months, and they might have to re-break the lower one and reset it. I'm going back to the plastic surgeon this week to see if he'll be able to fix my nose. Unfortunately, no word yet from the police. I really hope they catch this guy.
Although I'm in pretty bad shape right now, I can't help but smile, even if it hurts. I'm absolutely astounded by the amount of support I've gotten from the bikeforums. I've not only gotten many contributions to my AidsLifecycle ride (which I'm participating in against my doctor's orders
) but people have also helped me with paying for a new helmet, etc. I've even had one member offer to lend me his Bianchi. Thankfully, I don't need it, but I'm still grateful.
I'm going to wax a bit romantic here, so bear with me... it's probably just the codeine... I'm sure it will pass.
If everyone could take care each other as well as you all are taking care of me, this would be a much better place. The amazing part is that, with a few exceptions, we're all complete strangers. Yet there is still a friendly, supportive community that is willing to pick it's fallen members up, dust them off, and get them back on their bike.
I can't put into words how much this means to me. Maybe this smog-filled, car-infested planet has hope afterall.
