Greetings
Hi All... Joined the forum to bone up on "Biking" again. It's been 15 years since I last rode. Had to quit at 40 due to a failing hip and bum knee. Hung my Cannondale up in the garage, and walked by it for 4 years, til I could'nt take the torment anymore and sold it.
Now with the knee fixed and a new hip, I'm ready to ride again.
Thought I might like a hybred and tried a Trek 7.6 FX but just couldn't get by the ride, shifter & bars (I'm an old road bike guy). I asked if I could test a road bike, and after a long discussion with Jeff (the pro bike salesman at Eddies), he suggested that I road test a couple road bikes with relaxed geometry. He first put me on a Cannondale Six Carbon 6 , I rode it around a 1/2 hour and liked it very much... beat the pants off of the Trek in every way, except price. Then he put me on a '09 Specialized Roubaix Elite Triple ... Wow what ride, I was right at home on it, the relaxed geometry was perfect for my 55 year old body. I didn't want to get off. I wasn't too fond of the grey carbon color so I had to order the other color choice, Red/silver.

Hey Dave - I know all about those vagaries of age - I'm 64. Where are you? I forgot to mention that I am in beautiful Carroll County, Maryland.

Love the pedals... had a little bit of trouble locking into them at first but by the 3rd ride it was fine. I had similar clipless pedals on my Cannondale 15 years ago. I stepped into the old pedals, you have to slide your foot into these, just took some getting use to.

Welcome Dave. Nice looking bike.
I feel your pain about not being able to ride. I'm 64 and had shoulder surgery in January. The doc said no riding until April -- which is almost here.
Oh, and do me a favor. Ditch that fancy blue font. It's too hard for my old eyes to focus on. The plain black text works find.
