Using Marin Muirwoods as a touring bike..

I havent bought it yet - but I saw the Marin at a bike-shop
and preety much fell in lurve with it.

I am a touring kind of guy - and my present bike [7.2fx] is slowly
being sequestrated (by another who is getting into cycling)

I can't justify spending 600+ GBP on a regular touring bike - so
thinking of using the Muirwoods as a substitute tourer.

Any opinions on its suitability?

I have done the same thing with my rockhopper, looking at the Muirwoods, they look fairly identical. The longest I have taken it is 12 miles round trip, and while that was no problem, it was a similar feeling to riding about 20/25 on my roadie.

If I had lighter wheels and a stiff fork it would help for longer distances. Around town, it's a perfect bike.
