I had one on the female riders ask me the other day about handle bar grips. I told her she needed to swap out with some lock-ons. She asked me for some that are soft & sticky. I told her I would see what everyone might recomendz. Well, I know the dangers of this forum, but I wanna please her. So help a brotha out.

ODI's Yeti grip is my favorite. Tacky, perfect pattern (padding for palm and grippy stuff for fingers), and not too huge. Kind of hard to find though.

Alternately, I also like ODI Ruffians. The rubber is pretty tacky, and the pattern, while simple, does the job. They're not as padded as some of the other grips, but this also means they're good for small hands. The Rogue is softer, but they're also huge...too huge for me anyway.

Next time I need grips I think I'm going to give the Lizard Skin Peaty a try. Saw them the other day and thought they looked appealing.

The Sunline Logo grips are a soft and very sticky compound - - and the thin version would be a good match for a female hand.

The Yeti logo ODI grips are a nice dual-density grip with a soft, grippy outer rubber and an agreeable female hand-size diameter.

[Edit = for a non-lock-on, probably the stickiest, gummiest grip I've ever encountered is the Serfas Connector]

I see no point to lock-ons so someone "try" to enlighten me, okay. It's called hairspray and it works just fine.

soft and sticky grips? sounds like worn out grips too me,

and yeah the hairspray/ other meathods of gluing grips on is lame, not only is it a pain if you need to replace your grips (they do wear out) but if you have to pull of a brake/shift lever for whatever reason (change em, broke em, w/e) your gonna end up buying new grips lame, with grips like the odi and other "bonus pack" style grips you have a grip and lockrings, so you can replace just the grip for pretty cheap. So in the end lock ons arn't that expensive (omg $20 start up cost)

While I prefer lock on grips myself, you don't need to destroy other grips when you need to take them off. Simply squirt some rubbing alcohol under the grip, work it around, and then slide the grip off.

Before I started using lock-on's, my grips would move around and never felt secure. There were times when I could have avoided a crash when doing technical rides. I tried hairspray, but it made it too difficult to remove when swapping levers or my bars. Sometimes I swap out my risers for a flat.

Now, I understand it's NOT "rocket science" but it sure is stupid to go through all that work, when you can just recommend a grip that is easy to remove. Granted, if you don't ride the technicals & , you like fighting to remove grips , or they move around , then keep on keepin on .

I dunno about sticky, though how about Oury lock-on's?

Though the non lock-on versions don't slip on me the same way that others do. I mean they slide a bit over time, but not like some grips that you can actually yank around while riding.

Why do people keep mentioning those damn chunky Ourys for a female with small hands? Yes, they're soft but that's about it. The things are too fat for my hands.

How easy do they come off, say I toss on my flat bar and 130mm ritc? Or smash a lever? Yea, they'll prolly come off with some elbow grease and some grape jelly. But I'd rather not

This thread reminded me of a funny thing that happened to a good friend. He had grips that were slippy and twisty at the time... real bad, but he just put up with it because he couldn't be bothered to do anything about it.

One time he came up to a jump ramp and he pulled up to get more air, and plupp!... out comes the left grip still in his grasp. It was so sudden and unexpected that it flung his left arm right out wide so it looked like he was doing some marching-band trick or something. Well, you know when abrupt fear and panic hits, you always don't calculate the odds and logical possibility... you just react and try to fix the problem without any common sense at all. So my mate slams his arm back from where it came from, and defying the odds of about a million to one, his left grip jambs back in (ALL THE WAY IN) the handlebar end, a split second before he hit the ground and lands!

Funny thing Dm is after it happened, he got curious and took the grip off just to see if he could do it again with intent... nah, no way in the world, kept missing the mark. Even when he gave up and decided to put the grip back, it was an effort.

How he ever got it in, we'll never know... I think it was more of a case of he "willed" it in out of so much desperation, so the darn thing complied with supernatural forces coming into play! Hahaha
