Stock Raleigh Twenty Folder - $300 (Manor/UT)

Date: 2011-05-05, 10:41AM CDT
Reply to: xxxxxxxx@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
I have a Raleigh Twenty folder for sale. As near as I can tell everything is stock as the day it came from the factory. SA 3 speed IGH shifts just fine, everything works. The paint and decals are original and show some imperfections, but nothing that penetrates the primer. The only real issue is the Brooks saddle. There is a small (~1") opening in the seam at the back, and the clamp for the saddle tilt is wearing out and tilt will shift if not thoroughly tightened.

The late bike guru Sheldon Brown loved these and had a stable full of them.

I am asking $300, and can show the bike on campus at UT Austin during the workweek or in Manor on the weekends/evenings.

Poor (overpriced) bike! Guess in how many ways is that cockpit wrong... That's sad, as it is truly a nice vintage mtb!

Not on par with the 50k BCA, but still pretty optimistic...

2 Matching 1966 Raleigh Chopper RSW 16 Bicycles Like Moulton Bikes - $1100 (Delray Beach)

These are early Raleigh RSW 16 Bikes. This was Raleigh's attempt to copy the revolutionary Moulton bicycles. Raleigh took over Moulton Cycles in 1967, thereby eliminating the competition. Like the Moultons, the RSWs used 16 inch wheels, but unlike the Moultons, they lacked front and rear suspension. To make up for this lack, the RSW was supplied with very wide (2 inch!) tires designed to run at low pressures. There were two basic variants of the RSW, the RSW and the RSW Compact. This is the first type "MK-1"and is not the folding version. It has a Sturmey-Archer 3 speed rear hub and twist shift and SA Dynamo front hub that powers the front and rear lamps. Both work great. Red with some typical paint wear for a 40+ year old bike. The chrome (hubs, rims, stem, ect.) is in outstanding condition for its age, some light pitting in some places. The bike weighs approximately 43lbs and measures about 58" long by 29” tall with the seat as low as it goes. Bike rides and drives great. Nice piece of history for a Moulton or Raleigh Bike Collector.

The giveaway is that the geometry would be insanely out of whack if the top tube was not designed that way.

Centurion Ironman Fixed Gear Conversion - $750 (Downriver)

Date: 2011-04-11, 10:04PM EDT
Reply to: sale-svt4a-2319759571@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

56cm. I have owned the bike approximately 5 years. It has been owned by bicycle mechanics its entire life. Last summer I converted her to fixed gear. Unfortunately, a pretty bad knee injury ended riding fixies for me. The thing is light, and handles like it is on rails. I am 6'4" and the bike fits me like a glove. The frame has zero dents and very few paint blemishes. I have over $600 in receipts for the bulk of the newer parts on the bike, minus the New-Old Stock (NOS) parts. It is an almost perfect mix of new/old school parts. You won't see another like this anywhere.

The bike includes:

- 58cm Centurion Frame. Tange 1 4130 Chromoly tubing (second to top of the line for the era). Made in Japan. Original 80's paint. Very clean.
- Velocity Anti-Freeze Green Deep Vs with Origin 8 Track Hubs
-Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tyres in 700x35 (less than 100 miles)
- Late 80's Vintage Shimano 105 Cranks with 44T 105 chainwheel.
- Late 80's Vintage Shimano Front + Rear brakes with Fly SPS "SOFT" brake shoes. (Rear is not currently installed.)
- NOS Mid 80's Vintage WHITE Odyssey Old School BMX lever for front. Super rare, nearly impossible to find.
- Late 80's Vintage Shimano 105 Aero Brake levers with NOS black brake hoods. (Not installed, but included.)
- Odyssey Linear Slic Cable - White
- 16T rear cog and lockring. (Less than 100 miles)
- The Shadow Conspiracy white Half-Link BMX chain. (Less than 100 miles)
- Stronglight TITANIUM bottom bracket with ceramic bearings. (These go for >$150 on eBay. Installed when I purchased bike)
- Alloy Micro-Adjust seat post.
- Ano'd Aluminum Water Bottle Bolts
- Late 80's Vintage Nitto Quill Stem
- Late 80's Vintage Shimano 105 Headset
- Origin 8 Riser bars Powder Coated Neon Green
- Primo Josh Stricter Translucent Green Pedals
- Limited Ed. Summer 2010 Hot Pink Odyssey Aaron Ross Grips

Asking $750 for the bike. It would easily cost you over $1200 to build something of similar quality from parts. That is, if you can find all the parts. No test rides unless you have $750 to place in my hands.

Not looking for any trades unless it is a higher-end SS 29er (Redline Monocog Flight, Surly, Salsa).

For an extra $30, I can throw in matching 105 Pedals with NOS toe clips.

I also have many other vintage bike parts for sale (Dura-Ace, 600EX, 105, Wolber Rims, etc)

Yeah I wasnt 100% sure, since the bottom tube looks a bit bent to, but it looked like it could have been some weird reflection.

Wow. We don't have the death penalty here, but I'd consider lobbying to change that if that rolled by my door. I think it's the ugliest bike I've ever seen, and I pull rusty bikes out of dumpsters to give to charity in my spare time. And from what I gather on this forum, that's a seriously sought after maker too, right? It's awful. Truly, truly awful.

While we're at it, should it be death or just life in prison for the person who first thought up coloured chains?
