Wear Shinguards!!
Didnt think i needed shinguards....
I was riding on my blown out Foes Wet-1 fork while waiting for my new one, bad idea also.
Bottomed out the fork after a little drop and did a handlebar stand, then instead of going over i came down on my shin with the full force of 1-2cm DH pedal spikes, splitting my leg in 2 places. 11 stitches on top, 3 on the bottom
As soon as it happened i dropped my bike and started walking in everyones way because i was in shock, and calmly found my buddy and told him "uhhh i can see my bone...." then i was out cold haha
EASILY PREVENTED! Buy some!

Ha! Now that's a little different for this forum. Were you racing?

not even close, i was just messing around on some new little 2 footers in a park i frequent. The compression side of my fork is totally gone, so leaning a bit to far forward bottomed it out and mashed me up.

Still kicking.
This is why you never ride around on a blown out suspension fork.

Sticky: Shinguards cramp my style.
If you are switching from clipless to flats on the MTB, they are a really good idea until you can un-learn your clipless addiction.

Most common area of injury - "no injury" isnt an area of injury. This chart is for collisions with motor vehicles. For lone bike accidents I am sure hands and elbows tops the list.

I now have Staph infection in the lower cut and halfway through the upper one.
The doc took another culture of my skin to make sure its not M.R.S.A.
I just wanna ride!

When I rode MTBs as a kid, this was the reason I was injured most of the time, usually from pedal slippage spinning around and smashing into my shin (outside of doing stupid things and smashing my body into the ground. )
Heal up quick and take care of the Staph infection!

This is why you should be clipped into your pedals if you're only doing 2 footers at the local park.
DH pedals have one purpose in this world, to mangle flesh.
Most freeriders/DHers seem to enjoy this, and the resultant scabbage.
If you don't, perhaps you should look at your equipment, and not just the forks.
