Does anyone bring their dog?
I'm going to bring my dog with on our trip next week and I'm wondering
if anyone has brought their dog along. If so, what was your method of
carrying them? I'm using the milk crate with a make-shift roof. Its pretty
Mickey Mouse but it will protect him from the sun for sure. If it rains he'll be a
little compromised...
Any thoughts?

there was a guy that was riding from washington state (i think) to florida (i think) for diabetes awareness (i think!). i do know that he brought a small dog in a trailer (maybe a kids trailer?). i enjoyed his blog but lost the link.
he was a big fella on a big surly and drew a lot of attention with his little dog in a trailer. and seemed like a real good guy.

There's a guy on here named Hank Raines (username Airwick) who took his 2 Jack Russells on tour with him. He has a crazyguy journal.

One of my earliest inspirations to start touring was meeting a girl who was touring in Alaska with her dog. She had a trailer and said that sometimes he would run along side of her and sometimes he'd ride along. I always thought it might make me feel a little safer and it would be nice to have a companion, though I don't have a dog and think the added weight would be too much of a burden for this solo tourer. I guess if you're splitting weight with a partner you have some wiggle room.....but how much does your dog weigh?

Buff is about 11 pounds. He's a toy Poodle.
I've decided to use the milk crate method, although today I'm going to go to the
pet store and do a quick idiot check to make sure they don't have something more
suitable for inclimate weather.
Some day I'll buy a trailer and bring a Presa along.
We have Poodle's, Malinois(Belgian Shepherd) and Presa Canario.
The latter being about 120lbs when mature!
Someday!
I'll post pics...we leave tonite!!!
