2 man, 2 hour TT - Thanks for the heads up!
I just found out that our sponsor has decided that I and another rider on our team will do a 2 rider, 2 hour TT on the track in 6 weeks.
My bike will be here in a few days.
Although I think it will be pretty cool to do (and would appreciate ANY advice) I only found out when the other guy asked me what days I'd like to practice on.
I asked him, "Practice what?"
He said, "For the TT"
I asked him, "What TT?"
He said, "The one we're doing in a few weeks. Do you have time on Tuesdays?"
It would have even been more interesting if the bike had just shown up at my door...
Now that I'm over it I actually think it will be a pretty cool event. It's like the hour for two.
Anyone else ever ride something like this?

will this be in a velodrome?
Will they allow you to use a geared TT bike or track bike only?
i've done plenty of that type of riding while training with a cat 1 road/track racer friend of mine... 100 laps non stop is a killer workout!
half-lap rotations yields higher average speeds, but takes a LOT OUT OF YOU compared to full lap pulls.... =)

You'll want to get used to using the banking to your advantage when exchanging. Pull off in designated corners, go up the banking, and use coming back down the banking to provide acceleration assist to get back on the wheel of your partner. Watch some samples on youtube -

Thanks for the suggestions. We'll try half lap pulls and see how it goes for us.
I've ridden some track but it was years ago. We actually have a track not far from where I live (5km) but it had fallen into complete disrepair over the years and was not really being used.
It has since been refurbished and I've been meaning to get out there but, since I don't have a track bike, it never happened. This may be what it takes.
Details on the event are sketchy at the moment (for me). I've put a call into our sponsor (CKT) and should know more in a day of so.

I think you should do 2+ lap pulls for how long the TT is; too much can go wrong with so many pulls.
And always plan for one of you getting fatigued early on. Are you using drop bars or aero?

That's what I was thinking. Make sure you keep fluids and gels going. Get ready for the inevitable ebbs and flows of each other's power. Be very well rested going in. Sounds like a 120 minute suck-fest.

I'm going to do a 2hr steady effort tomorrow on the road. I want to see what kind of effort I can sustain for that duration. It should be pretty...interesting.
I'm thinking that if I can come up with a kj number then I should be able to figure out how to spread that work over the desired time.
Oh boy. I'm so excited.

Personally I'd ride a neutral geometry track bike with drops and clip-ons, this sounds like a kick in the d*ck.

Finally go the low down on the race (Aug 8).
It's on a car test track (speedway type thing). I was fitted for my TT bike today. It's pretty cool and full on.
I'll post a pic when I get a chance to snap one. I want to get the fit zeroed first since I don't know if I don't feel like dangling some 'critique my fit' pics out there.
