Tour de Cure 100 mile results
I did Tour de Cure today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway - 100 miles - on my Rans V-Rex. I hoped to average 18 mph on the bike, which would have been my fastest century ever. I figured the flat route and smooth pavement would add up to make for a fast day. I was right about that. Results: bike-time of 5:14 for an average speed of 19.1, and not one minute spent drafting. About 20 minutes of stop time. That was fun!
drats, can't edit the title. Mod?

Yes, sounds good to me too. I would not be able to do that. Sounds like you had fun, and got a new sense of what you are able to do.

Nice job! When you say that you did it at the speedway, do you mean that you were looping around the track? How many times did you have to go around? How many other riders were on the track with you?

The 50k and 70k routes went off-track for most of the distance. They kept the 100 mile route on-track so they could shut down at their cutoff time without worrying about people still out on the course.
I was rider number 621 - I was late to registration so there weren't too many more. The crowd on the track thinned out pretty quickly, as people doing the fun-ride finished and the 50k/70k riders left the track. I'd guess there were less than 100 people on the track most of the time - but that's a guess. There were enough people that there was always someone to pass.

It's 2.5 miles on the outer wall.

Sounds like a blast. I rode on Portland International Raceway over Memorial day and it is fun on a track. A very different feel but very enjoyable.
