Hey guys. Just a quick hello from the International Zone in Iraq. I got in a week or so ago, and I gotta say; not so much on the cycling. What with the 115 degrees, the sandstorms, and of course the threat of vehicle borne explosives....well, riding the trainer in my room is about as good as it gets.

I haven't seen any vintage bikes to take pics of yet, and I kinda doubt I will, so there won't be many photo posts from me for quite awhile. I hope everyone is doing well, riding a lot, and wrenching frequently. Once again I'm reminded not to take those opportunities for granted when I have them again.

From your description, it sounds like Phoenix.
But in all seriousness, stay safe, keep cool, and come back in one piece to jump back on your bike(s).
A genuine gratitude to you for your service and sacrifice.

A co-worker just left yesterday to go. I didn't know what to say to him nor do I to you. "Thank you" seems to not cover the amount of appriciation I feel, but it is the only words that I can find. So Thank You, and you are in my families prayers.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Your feelings are certainly appreciated. As a civilian USG employee we actually have it a TON better than our military counterparts, who really deserve the lion's share of the gratitude.

And don't feel too bad, thanks to KRhea I will have a custom Taylor frame waiting for me when I'm done overseas. I'll keep you guys in the loop during the year, and will always be trolling for good C&V pics on here!

Well, by now you have learned that the sand gets into places you never even dreamed of, or wanted to know it could, lol. It would be death to a drive train without constant cleaning.

I bet you find some rather vintage type utility commuter bikes if you ever venture out into the metropolitan area, even in the international zone.

Keep the head on a swivel and don't lose the instinctive skepticism. It has it's place!
