Nashbar frame redux
I know its been on here before but I can't find the thread. Nashbar has their touring frames with fork for 179.00 with another 25% off if over $50.00 (I think). I was considering buying one and doing a build for commuting and touring. Has anyone bought one of the Nashbar frames and was it really cheesy or good build. I have some items laying about I could use on this frame so I hope I can get some feedback on this idea. Hacks me off cause I know I've seen this discussion before but I'll be danged if I can find them. Thanks again

I ordered this frameset and was not impressed. The headtube was damaged, so I returned it and bought a long haul trucker instead.

Mine turned out fine and is a nice comfy ride.
Be aware that the top tube runs longer than on some similar sized bikes.
Mine fits ok...but I may wind up getting another frame the next size down when they are on sale again.

Aren't they aluminum? You can sometimes pick up an older steel Nashbar frame on eBay.

Yeah they're aluminum.
Kind of a nice cushy ride with 700 x 35c tires. Nice wheelbase.
I haven't seen any nashbar steel frames on ebay.
-Edit- Just looked on ebay and they had a full Nashbar steel touring bike for $249
Unfortunately it was a 67 cm monster.

What kind of fenders did you use? Is it really that bright color of green?

The color is probably best represented by the pic in front of the garage.
Something about the sunlight and a weird camera setting responsible for the other pics.
But yes, I really like the green.

It's a really nice metallic green. I got one a few months ago and am building it up now. Be careful with the BB because my attempt trashed the threads and I had to get a LBS friend chase them. The build seem good for the price and it has all the braze-on and other mounting positions you could hope for. My cheap cx tires are 700 x 36 and there seems to be plenty of room for fenders.
