I just bought this bike - it's really fun and I'm really enjoying it, but I know basically nothing about it. Anybody have any idea what the story is with this style of Bianchi? What year is it?

My guess is that it is a mid 80's Japanese made Bianchi from the era that Piaggio owned Bianchi.

+1, and the Golden Arrow stuff (which probably is original) should have codes on the backside that can help fix a date to the bike... but the Piaggio years were about '81 thru '83, IIRC (and I usually don't).

Edit: leave it to T-Mar to have the facts (and welcome back to the forum, you were missed!) but a couple thoughts: ever seen a JP-made Bianchi with a full-chrome fork? And where would the Piaggio decal be?

A Piaggio decal, in conjunction with the first generation 105 should make it a 1983-1984 model. It's almost certainly a Japanese built model, as previously stated, but the serial number will disclose the true source and year. It's a nice, lower mid-range model with good components.

It has the piaggio logo, also it has a single serial number (vs. a two-part one): DS484###

That is a cool component group, does your bike have the golden arrow hubs too?

As I suspected, it's a 1984, Japanese built frame.
