Bikes: 2 - 2007 Custom Bike Fridays, 2 - 2009 Bike Friday Pocket 8's, Gravity 29'er SS, 2 - 8-spd Windsor City Bikes, 1973 Raleigh 20 & a 1964 Schwinn Tiger
Three very different bikes re: gearing, wheel size quality and folded size.
Cheap folder with 16" wheels and 6-speeds. Not a main-stream product.
Single-speed, High-Ten steel framed, low-end Dahon with 20" wheels. I ride one as a store bike, and have done a fairly flat 20 miles on it, but you better like having no gears plus a coaster/hand brake combination.
Twenty-one speed aluminum folder with 26" wheels.
You really need to figure out what your needs are before you can choose the right one.

You want to buy a bike to bike outside, I suppose.
If that's so, go outside and try the bikes. Try even more bikes, bikes fom your friends, families, college's etc.
Talk with bikers, ask them why they choose this bike.
Then choose and tell us which bike is yours. Preferably with photo's.

it'll be best if the OP can tell us what's his purpose for the bike.
depending on the objective, one will work better than the other, perhaps even online choices might be a viable option.

amongst the 3 that you saw online. i'd say dahon boardwalk if you want a small fold (it has 20inches wheel) or the espresso if you want a full size folding bike.

I have the boardwalk s1 with big apples. I took off the fenders and rack. Its a great simple bike. Worth the money. Its a good price to try out folders. The kent is no good. It looks really nice but the cranks are to small and you don't have the clearance to change them. You pedal like crazy get really tired and get no where.( kent was my first folder) The boardwalk pedals like a regular bike. The big apples improve the ride imo. The gearing is fine. I can stand up to ride up hills no problem. Now, the other dahons are very nice also, but cost more to see if a folder works for you.

It is a very good bike for this price range ($274). You also have a 30 days return policy though you pay shipping.
I had this bike for few weeks and then I realized that for my intended use (20-50miles day trips) I need a higher end bike so I returned them and got a Bike Friday.
If you are looking for bike in this price range, the Gotham is a good choice IMO. Construction is good, hinges are solid, and the fold is easy.
The rear break on my Gotham was weak (you can try better pads such as KoolStop) and I also had problem with shifting round the 5th gear (but at that time I had little experience in adjusting derailleurs).
