JR (Veloman)

I need help comparing a used Trek 5000 (2005 model) and new Madone 4.5. I can get the 5000 for approx $1400 (no tax) and the Madone would be $2,400 incl tax. Is there a big difference beyween the two? HELP please

Ride them both and make a decision. Personally, I would go towards the used 5000, assuming it checked out okay, had not been raced hard, tons of miles etc. If it is time to replace the drive train, there goes your $1000 savings and since it is used, you lose your lifetime warranty from Trek as well.

Both are great bikes and will serve you well, as I can say this as I have been riding Treks since the mid 80's and have been extremely pleased with every Trek bike I have owned.
