I only wanted the bar end shifters and the drop bar, ChicagoAl probably wanted the wheels and you can have the rest... We could have parted it out, like a herd of tigers on a good kill.

Gitane Tandem - $1000 (Fort Hill, Boston)
Date: 2009-10-28, 7:47AM EDT
Reply to: sale-fznx2-1441020371@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
This Gitane tandem is ready for serious touring or public charity rides. Everything works. Bought new in 1971, it has about a thousand miles on it mostly in the first ten years. At the time it was new Gitane tandems were most popular high end, mass produced tandem bicycle. You could see more Gitane tandems at bicycle rallies than any other brand. On this bike rear handlebar shifters can be operated by either rider. There is a wide lady’s saddle in the back. The gear range, 25 to 112, is extra wide for touring. Come and give “The answer true” a test ride!
Frame size: 24 front, 21-1/4 rear.
Top Tube height off the ground: 33-1/2 front, 32-1/2 rear.
Wheels: 36 spokes, front & rear
Tires: 27-1/4 front, 650 mm rear
Brakes: Mafac Center pull on rims, large drum brake on rear axle.
Derailleurs: Shimano front with a long cage, Suntour rear with a long arm
Handlebars: Dropped bars front and rear.
Luggage racks: Generic, front and rear.
Pedals: With toe clips and straps and bright reflector tape.
Cranks and chainwheels: TA, triple front c/w.
Eccentric front bottom bracket for adjusting tension on timing chain
Original Gitane decals. Red reflector tape and two grass reflectors.
Gear table: Beautifully designed for even and useful steps:
-- 104 112
-- 79 86
38 68 73
33 59 63
25 45 --
Bike sold with tools: A TA crank bolt wrench, a TA crank puller, and a pin spanner for the front left bottom bracket cup.

Bianchi Super Leggera Classic Road Bike - $400 (Arlington)

This is an awesome bike I'd love to keep. But it doesn't fit me. It's 55cm or 56cm. If you have interest, please email me...I will let you know exactly what it is and answer any other questions about the bike to the best of my knowledge. Some of the black paint needs a little touching up, but the bike is in good condition for its age. Currently 100% rideable, was tuned up within the last six months (and only ridden a handful of times).

Perfect Condition Vintage Lotus Supreme - $500 (Harvard & Comm in Allston)
Date: 2009-10-27, 11:46PM EDT
Reply to: sale-udhhu-1440863620@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
Everything on the bike is original except for a rear re-built wheel.
The bike is a beautiful pink, and was originally issued as a team racing bike. It is in great condition with minimal rusting, original paint job and stickers still on the bike.
Cinelli Champio del mondo drop down handlebars on a shiamo chrome frame with butted tubes for extra strength.
Great, classic Concor Supercorsa Confort seat. On the frame-- 12 gear dura-ace gear shifters, and breaks which still work perfectly. This bike is fast. Very, very light, very, very smooth ride with great shiamo foot straps.
About a 58 cm standover - good ride for someone between 5'11'' and 6'3''
The bike has been in storage and rides like new.
Would work great as either a high-end commuter, or could even be raced today.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call, 401-465-1321.

58cm Torpado - Italian Lugged Steel, Campy & Cinelli - $400 (South End)
Date: 2009-10-27, 11:46AM EDT
Reply to: sale-wxuzp-1439783217@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
Late 80's Torpado, Made in Italy.
Campagnolo Chorus Headset& BB, brakeset, hubset, and drivetrain.
Cinelli stem and seat post (not sure about Hbar).
Mavic MA40 rims. Michelin pro race tires.
One owner, not including my dad who rode it 5 times this summer and realized the geometry was too aggressive for him.
There's a spot on the top tube where the paint was worn off, and it needs retouching.
price is firm.

FUSO Fixey Bike - $500 (Newport Beach)
Date: 2009-10-27, 6:40PM PDT
Reply to: sale-phrv6-1440737701@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
Classic Fuso frame by one of America's last premiere frame builders. Now a retro fixey in excellent condition. Unlike many of the new fixeys or converted fixeys this bike frame will always command a premium because it was hand made by Dave Moulton; Dave Moulton made frames for Tour de France riders. Google him if you do not know who he is. This frame is a 61 cm. frame measured center to top the same as 59 cm center to center. It should fit a rider 5'10" to 6"3" It comes with Regal saddle (looks like a Brooks saddle with copper rivets), Cinelli bar and stem, Campy hubs & seat post, Shimano cranks and front brake. I will includemost of the parts necessary to convert this back to a circa 80's road bike including Shimano 600 shifters, brakes. Please email me with any questions.

I've seen numerous callouts like Rusty's here and rarely am I able to see whether a fork is really bent; sometimes it's the quality and size of the pic but more often than not, I expect it is just my lack of experience. I'm responding because this is my flipper and I go to the limits of my mechanical expertise to be certain any bike I'm selling is both safe and roadworthy, so when I saw the claim of bent fork I immediately went out to the garage and took another look from every possible angle, got out a straight edge, took off the wheel and spent long minutes staring at the fork to see where and how it was bent and couldn't tell for the life of me.
Just to be certain, I deleted my CL post, hauled the bike to my expert lbs mechanic and asked him to check it out. He did all the same eyeball checking I did and said 'it sure doesn't look bent' but got out the dropout adjusters just to be certain and they aligned dead center with no deviation. So my question here for those with more experience than me is this: is it possible for the front fork to be bent when the dropouts are perfectly aligned and the wheel centers on the brake and head tube with the axle fully-seated? Let me make it clear I'm not dogging or finger-pointing at Rusty on this, but am just curious at what standards apply to what seems to be a fairly subjective call.
