Old Shimano 600 single pivot calipers
I'm just completing a restoration project and am having problems with attaching the brake cable to the calipers....
Does anyone know the correct way to attach the cable to Shimano 600 single pivot calipers (the ones with the odd quick release) so that the quick release functions properly ?
I have tried a few different ways but am baffled by this quick release system... can't find the correct way to attach the brake cable and have the quick release work... !

QR lever goes all the way down, pull the cable tight, tighten the bolt down to hold it.
The brand in the pic is obviously different, but the routing should be the same:
