IRO Mark V - 53cm or 56cm for 5'10, 78cm inseam?
I just placed an order for a 53cm IRO Mark V bike Sunday night, and now I'm having second thoughts about the size -- should I have gotten a 56cm frame?
I'm 5'10" and have a 78cm inseam, and my legs are short compared to my long torso & arms. My current bike is an old Raleigh, measuring about 58cm center to center, and I know it's too big for me. This site suggests multiplying .65 x inseam to get the proper C-C size, and that suggests a 50.7cm frame...
Anybody out there with an IRO have similar measurements to me? What size do you ride?
-Jacob
(I've seen other threads in the forums about IRO frame sizes, but nothing specific to my dimensions, so I thought I'd throw this up here.)

I am 5'9" with shorter legs and I ride a 53 mark v. Not exactly sure what my inseam is.

same height, roughly the same inseam
I bought the 56cm, sure I'm essentially riding the top tube if I stand bare foot, but I never get off the pedals unless I'm getting off the bike, so it's no big deal. and I think the bike fits slightly better then the 53 would have

For reference, here is mine:
Sorry about the dark picture. Not much seatpost is exposed and i'm using a posi-rise stem. I am mostly torso.

Thanks for the photo, dayvan. I'm starting to think that I made the right choice going for the 53cm bike. I've emailed IRO to find out their thoughts, but for now I'm going to stick with my purchase... and I'm psyched to be getting the new Mark V.

I see that you commented on my flickr picture jacobpatton and then I came here and saw that you made this thread. I decided to reply in this thread rather than comment again on the picture, figuring you'll probably check this first.
I'm 5'8", not sure what my inseam is (I think it's around 30 or 31 inches, which would be around 76 and 78cm) and my 53cm Mark V fits me pretty much perfectly.

Thanks for posting here, Jonathan. I've heard back from IRO, and they think I should go with a 56cm bike.... Decisions, decisions...

I had a 53cm MkV and I personally think it was too small. I'm 5'9 and I had a lot of seatpost showing, even with my short-ass legs. I've since upgraded to a 56 (could even be 58, I'm not too sure at the moment) and I like it much more than the 53cm.
If you like the way Keirin or TT bikes look, you won't get that with the 53cm. The top-tube slants downwards rather than being parallel to the ground.
