Masi Speciale Randonneur
Anyone tour with a Masi? Thinking about picking one up for my portland-san fran tour. I would switch out for a triple and throw on a b17.

This journal over on CGOAB was written by a guy who started on one...it was stolen after he did most of the Pacific Coast on it.
I think he found the gearing to be too high. I think the gearing is too high, too, but it could be changed.

I'll second the gearing comment by BengeBoy. You might also want to think about an 12-12/34 cassette and Deore RD. That combined with a 46-48/36/26-24 triple would be apretty good touring set up.

@Benge: thanks for the link! Although the author didn't mention in depth about the Masi particulars i found it a great read and inspirational.
I'm going to rest ride a Masi, LHT, 520...as these bikes seem to be in the same category

It is a nice bike - are you in Portland? There is a very nice bike shop in Portland (Velo something?) where I first saw the Masi and the Masi Speciale Commuter (same frame, I think). It's a very nice bike, nicely set up - just not geared to be an all out tourer, but that could be changed.
