Alright people who know what they are doing. I've never really ridden before so I'm a beginer. I'm planning to get a free agent and need help picking it out. I've narrowed it down to 3. An Eluder, Trail Devil,and Trail Duster. Please help me.

I don't no much about them but the Trial Devil. I was thinking about getting one last year but I got a 2002 Specailzied Vegas TR-X instead. Are they all from Free Agent. Redline has just brought out a limited realese on a 2002.5 Double X. It is a dirt jumping bike that is the Double X but for a limited time it comes with 3-peice cranks. Go with the Trial Devil otherwise, but I don't know much about them as I have never riden or seen them.

I just went to the Free Agent site and sore the Eluder. Did you know it is a racing bike? It would be light but not as strong as the others. When you get along you will more than likly choose 3-peice cranks as they are stronger, lighter and more smooth than 1-piece cranks. If I had a choice of them I would get the Trial Devil but I would rather have the Redline Double-X 2002.5 Limited Edition because it comes with 3-peice. I am sure it is $269 or around that.

One more thing. This my be a stupid question but i don't know. Whats the differance between 1 and 3 peice cranks?

Exactly what it says. 1 piece cranks are made up of one crank arm that bends and goes right through the bottom bracket and makes up the arm on the other side as well. Its all one piece. 3-Piece cranks are made up of 2 arms and a spindle that goes through the bottom bracket. You can remove each arm individually and can leave the spindle in the bottom bracket. This makes it much easier to work on them, plus if you happen to bend an arm you dont have to replace the one on the other side. Whether you go with a 3-Piece or a 1-Piece crank, you will probably want to get a sealed bottom bracket. This means getting 2 sealed cartridge bottom bracket bearings. They cost a little more, but they last a lot longer and are much much smoother than normal bearings.

hey it looks like you want to ride trails but if are just getting into it i sugest somthing all around that will let you do what ever u want to see what ya like id suggest a hoffman george unless u wanna real nice bike id go for the hoffman kagy pro team or most other hoffmans are pretty much all around and this isnt just because i ride hoffman i just have experiance with cracking frames on some of the cheaper haros and stuff

How much are you looking to spend?
Look at these bikes:
- D.K General Lee (mid range)
- D.K Legacy (top range)
- Redline Supa X (top range)
- Redline Triple X (mid range)
- Haro Backtrial X4 (mid-top range)
Look at those for now. I will post any other ones a think of.

this all depends on what u wanna spend and what kinda ridng you want to do like street flatland or dirt are the main 3 and bikes can go from anywheres around 150 bucks too around 2 grand. I ride a dirty one 30 pimped out with all my goodies on it every thing in my bike is posted in the "what kinda bike do u have" and theres about a grand worth of stuff there even though i didnt spend that but if any old shmo went to buy that stuff it would cost him around that much....
