New guy
I am new to bicycling. I bought a Trek 7100 hybrid in hopes of conditioning a knee for a 4th surgery (probably a replacement this time). I also want to drop 40lbs. I have been "instructed" to learn the art of spinning, which I am working hard at. I live in the Georgia countryside so I will be able to bike year around. After two weeks in the saddle I am doing about 12 miles a day without complaints, although the ole glutius maxximus has spoken(G). I have already started "peeking" at the more traditional racers, although I will wait 6 months or more before spending that much money as I pay my dues in the rookie class. Thanks for the invite, I look forward to the forum posts.

Welcome to Bike Forums. Spinning in an easy gear as opposed to mashing in a higher on will be easier on your knees. When you start looking for your upgrade bike, consider the gearing. You might want a triple crank as opposed to a compact double.
