Ft De Soto Pie Day Ride

Location
Ft DeSoto Park
fort de soto park & Anderson blvd - Flag pole parking lot
Tierra Verde, FL 33715

Date/Time: 19 Sep 2009 / 07:30AM

I had to create a new ride as I've got to be at Ft De Soto to do some pre-work on the 2010 Tour de cure at 9:30AM at the Park Admin building.

I've been advised that the 3rd Saturday of September is a day traditionally set aside to be dedicated as a "PIE RIDE DAY". I'd still like to participate in that with a ride out of there prior to the meeting.

The "Official Rules"
The Annual Pie Ride takes place the 3rd Saturday of Sept. Riders are required to do at least a 15-mile ride with a stop for pie along the way. The only other rule I've ever been made aware of is it can't be mince meat or that general type of pie.

Pics are appreciated and the bike and scenery come into play for effect., Short write up of the ride in the comments or picture captions helps but the main thing is to eat pie on a ride that you will enjoy doing.

There's supposed to be a good cafe / bakery there in Treasure Island that should fill the bill just fine for a plce to get the pie.
La Casa Del Pane
4393 Gulf Blvd

I've also had another detail brought to my attention:
September 19th is ALSO International "Talk Like a Pirate" Day so we may have to act accordingly.

So C'mon Matey, this is a great ride along the beachs. With this being a Pie Ride - There's also bouty involved for all!

What's this mean to the landlubbers on the round wheeled ships?
...Lay off the rum and do some hydrating...
Proposed route

*Please bring plenty of water!!. this must be stressed there is no place to get any!!!..
*We will be leaving out of the first parking lot at Ft De Soto Park - the one directly across from the entrance road behid the big flag pole. If I recall correctly, there are restrooms at that parking lot, but no place to buy anything, especially at that time of day
.
*This is a not a no drop ride as it's just out and back. Pace should be anywhere between 10-20Mph depending on who shows up

*Keep safety in mind Make sure you wear your helmet and check your bike before leaving and lets have a great time!

Shame that it's scheduled for the same day the Gators are pounding on Tennessee, or I'd be down for it. I love riding on Gulf Blvd. Does the Frog Pond have pie?
