Stationary Trainer?

Can anyone here recommend a good stationary trainer? I'm refering to the ones you hook your bike up to. Are they any good? I want one for when the weather gets too cold to enjoy outdoor cycling. Of course, I might give that a try, who knows. Still, I'd like one anyway. What's a good one?

Thanks,

-Matt C.-

Matt, I have had wind trainers, mag trainers and now a fluid trainer. Like the fluid the best, most comperable to an outside ride as the resistance on a mag is linear. The wind trainers are good, but noisey!

I have a Minoura Mag 500R ( rim drive) and i find it quite OK, but BORING!!! the only time it gets a work out is if its raining outside (seeing as we are in bad drought, this doesnt happen often!) or if i want to spin the day before a big ride / race.

Other than that, i find the rollers can slip a bit untill they warm up and theres this god awfull rattle that comes from the mag unit which is probably just the cover vibrating, but its still hella annoying.

as a training aid i think its worthwhile, but make sure theres somthing interesting on TV!

There's no better exercise than riding your bike outdoors.

There's no worse exercise than riding your bike indoors.

I started riding year round because I hate to use the trainer.
