Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Need Help with chain

I just bought a Schwinn IC Pro spinner bike (for winter training). It is a fixed gear and running 1/8" chain. However it seems to be making a clicking noise on every single tooth of the fly wheels chain ring. Ive tried loosening it and tightening it, No help. I read somewhere once that getting a machined sprocket vs a stamped sprocket can help cut down on unnecessary noise because they are more circular. Does anyone have any ideas. I tried lubing the chain, I decreased the factory chain lube and used a wax lube which just made it louder. Im SOL on ideas.

Yeah it appears to be relatively straight. Its just a click with every tooth that comes in contact.

Are you sure it's not just the noise of the rollers contacting the ring?

Even when mine is packed up with grease and fresh from being cleaned, it'll make a very faint ting noise as the roller hits the chainring.

Are you a perfectionist? Fixed gear drive trains are some of the noisiest around.
