U.S. to Southeast Asia Shipping on eBay
I am listing a bike right now on eBay and I have a fair amount of foreign interest even though my preferences and the listing specify US only. Can someone give me some experience as to the carrier of choice for Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, etc. and what the approximate costs might be? Is it worth dealing with this? What are the customs considerations? Thanks for any info!

I haven't done it for awhile, but weight and size/shape of the box/container affects the rate you pay. Don't go for the bottom/cheapest rates either unless the customer doesn't mind waiting 3-6+ months. Shipping out of the states overseas costs a lot more than the other way around (postal or shipping companies). Lots of shipping options and price ranges for est delivery times. You have to declare what's in the package and if it's new or used plus approx worth. The buyer/customer has to pay whatever custom duties their country decides to charge. Can be a headache if the buyer balks at the shipping cost and I would add a few dollars to cover my time and gas. Hit up one of your local LBS for a box, might get lucky to get one for free as well as any packing material and bubble wrap. Would need some blue masking tape to protect the shiny bits from possibly getting scratched. Don't forget to buy insurance.
